
Wallingford, CT - August 30, 2010 – If you have a Garmin GPS in your car you will want to check its model and serial numbers.
GPS manufacturer Garmin Ltd. is recalling 1.3 million of its personal navigation devices on concerns that the batteries will overheat and cause a fire.
The recall includes five Garmin
Nuvi models, about 796,000 of which were sold in the U.S. Nuvi models included in the recall are the 200W, 250W, 260W, 7xx and 7xxT (where xx is a two-digit number).
The overheating problem has been identified in fewer than 10 instances, Garmin said. None of the incidents has resulted in significant property damage and there have been no injuries reported.
